Shadows (シャドウ)? are monsters created by Bell which appear in Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure '23~. They are created from the shadows of those who have turned away from painful reality and given up hope for the future.
Appearance
The Shadows are black humanoid figures with red eyes.
Abilities
Although visible to the naked eye, they don't show up on smartphone cameras and can't be touched by humans. Not only do they attack and possess people, and multiply new shadows from people's shadows, but they can also trap the possessed in a deep darkness from which they will never awaken. Their victims can only be saved after the Shadows are purified by the Pretty Cure.
They mostly appear during the evening, but they can also survive in daylight. They can also change their appearances from humanoid to animalistic and plants. Furthermore, they can transport themselves into virtual spaces to avoid being contacted, and can even fire energy projectiles from their fingers.
Etymology
Shadow is an area of darkness, caused by light being blocked by something[1].

- The Shadows coincidentally share their name with Shadow from the Yes! 5 movie.
