Goemon (ゴウエモン)? is a general from the Phantom Thieves' Guild in Meitantei Pretty Cure!.
Bio
Appearance
Goemon is a tall muscular man with slightly tanned skin and short silver hair that wraps around the sides of his head while the rest is a big cylindrical pompadour. He has sharp mauve eyes with gold four-point stars inside, thick black eyebrows, and red eye markings to accent the ones at each side of his lips. He accessorizes with a half dark purple wing like mask over his left eye which has a square cut in the middle and in place of said eye is a black horizontal line. He wears a black strapped tank top to accent the bracers on his limbs, though the wrist bracers have darker pointy accents at the end, a charcoal gray robe which hangs at the back with white trim, dark purple four-point stars on the sleeve hem, and ripped ends with a split in the middle and an indigo insert to resemble bat wings, accenting the dark purple wings on his back. He also wears light gray puffed up pants which are rolled up to the knee, with a ripped dull purple cloth on top that wraps around his waist and is secured by a more saturated, lighter purple obi ribbon at right with a pink sakura in the middle, and white socks with light brown geta and black straps.
Personality
Goemon is cool and stylish, who takes it upon himself to help train any newcomers. Rather than disguising himself, Goemon prefers to steal things by force, or put his opponents in difficult situations to toy with them. He cares deeply for his younger comrades, despite his low intelligence.
Relationships
- Moria Luluka: Out of the Phantom Thieves' Guild, Goemon cares about Luluka the most, despite her indifference towards him. He tends to demonstrate thievery to show Luluka the ropes, and will try his best to fulfill her favors despite not knowing how to do so.
Etymology
Goemon (ゴウエモン)? may be based on Ishikawa Goemon[1], who was the leader of a group of bandits during the Azuchi-Momoyama period in Japan.
History
Goemon stands before Usonoir and declares that he'll locate the Makoto Jewel. He also orders Luluka and Mashutan to join him as he is willing to show them how to be a thief. Goemon targets Komatsuzaki Junichi's manga manuscript, which contains the Makoto Jewel, and operates in the shadows with Luluka by his side. With Luluka's help, he finds the bag containing the manga manuscript, which had been mistakenly swapped, at the art class before Anna and Mikuru arrive. He then summons a Hanninda, and reveals Usonoir's name to the Cures. When the Hanninda is purified, Goemon praises the Pretty Cure's fighting style, and tells them he looks forward to fighting them again.MPC04
Goemon is dispatched on Usonoir's orders and infiltrates Makoto Mirai Academy with Luluka. He stands in the way of Anna and Mikuru, who are confused when they walk into the gymnasium instead of the science classroom. Goemon tells them that he has turned the academy into a trick maze and that they'll never be able to escape the maze unless they solve the puzzles. After they've escaped the maze, Goemon summons a Hanninda based on the magnificent cherry blossom tree on the academy grounds. He is able to gain the upperhand in the battle, but is gradually pushed back and defeated. He retreats once again by praising the Cures' fighting style.MPC07
Goemon is eating Dorayaki when he sees Anna and Mikuru at Patisserie ChuChu. He remembers Usonoir mentioning there being a Makoto Jewel, so he decides to follow the girls. Sometime later, he barges into Moe's apartment to steal the Makoto Jewel that appeared before Anna and Mikuru, but they run off. He gives chase and witnesses them duplicating the painting. Goemon is initially confused until Luluka and Mashutan show up and tell him the girls will protect the real painting. This prompts Goemon to use water to attack the girls and steal the painting. Goemon walks away, declaring that was easy when he notices Anna and Mikuru chasing after him. He then decides to summon a Hanninda, and when it's purified, he leaves while praising the Cures.MPC10
Goemon is impressed that Luluka is enthusiastic about her first job, and pays no attention to Ageseine's grievances. After the battle, Goemon assumes Luluka must be upset about failing the mission, and tells her that failure is the root of success. However, he doesn't realize that Luluka's mission actually succeeded as her goal was never to steal the Makoto Jewel.MPC11
Goemon promises to buy Luluka ice cream if she comes with him to find a new Makoto Jewel. In Makoto Mirai, Goemon is shocked that Luluka is only eating ice cream, but upon Mashutan claiming the Makoto Jewel would come to them, Goemon decides to order ice cream while waiting. Just as he decides on a flavor, Luluka senses the Makoto Jewel, and Goemon steals it. When Anna and Mikuru arrive, he turns the bunny plush toy into a Hanninda, but it's quickly defeated by the Cures. Goemon leaves, declaring he'll eat azuki flavored ice cream.MPC17
Goemon boards an express train as the Tome of Mirages predicted there's a Makoto Jewel on board. Goemon disguises himself as a train attendant, and claims there's a UFO nearby. While the students are distracted, Goemon steals Yumi's guidebook. However, he is spotted by Anna and Mikuru. Goemon then decides to turn the train into a Labyrinth Train, and forces Anna and Mikuru to solve three cases. After they've solved the cases, Goemon disappears in a flurry of cherry blossoms and hides under a blanket on the train's roof. But Anna and Mikuru quickly find him. Goemon then summons a Hanninda, but it's purified after the train passes through a tunnel. Goemon then clings to the bottom of the train, and hopes Anna and Mikuru have a good school trip.MPC19
