Synopsis

A girl named Nagisa plays lacrosse with her team, scoring a goal. Inside the school, a girl in a lab coat named Honoka demonstrates an experiment to her classmates. Later that day, Nagisa and the team are walking together, with Honoka passing by, occupied with a book. The two girls don't notice each other.

The next day at Verone Academy, Nagisa arrives at school with her friends Shiho and Rina. They talk about the recent and frequent occurrence of shooting stars in the area. As they walk to the shoe lockers Honoka overhears them and explains that shooting stars are drifting meteors attracted by the Earth's gravity. People used to make wishes for them.

She heads off to class while the trio stands in amazement at her knowledge. Nagisa wonders if she knows everything and Rina explains that Honoka is known as the "Queen of Knowledge". Shiho points out her popularity with the boys when Nagisa opens her locker to find a bunch of love letters inside. But they were all from girls, which embarrasses her.

During class, Nagisa falls asleep but abruptly wakes up after the teacher calls on her to solve a math problem. She's unable to do it, and Honoka states she can't because it's unsolvable. The problem leads to an incorrect answer. She corrects their teacher's mistake, which embarrasses him. After class, Nagisa thanked Honoka for sticking up for her, even if it was indirectly.

Nagisa, Shiho, and Rina arrive at Wakabadai Station and board a train back home. Nagisa's friends discuss nominating her and Honoka as class representatives, as both are popular with the girls and boys respectively. Nagisa objects, but gets distracted when she notices a boy from her school, back at the station. She returns home and is stressed out, immediately retreating to her bedroom. She laments her popularity with other girls when she spots a meteor shower going on outside. She makes multiple wishes, then realizes that a glowing object is coming straight for her. She ducks and it bounces around the room before hitting her in the face. The "star" reveals itself to be a compact with several glowing shards spilled out on the floor.

Meanwhile, Honoka arrives home to hear her dog barking. Her grandmother asks if something's wrong but Honoka assures her that he seems fine. Chuutaro leads her to the shed where she finds a glowing package, containing a compact similar to the one in Nagisa's room.

After Nagisa recovers, she carefully prods the compact with her lacrosse stick until it opens to reveal a small creature. Terrified, Nagisa backs away. The small creature tries speaking to her, only for her brother Ryouta to interrupt. He was sent by their mom to check on Nagisa because she was being so noisy. Nagisa shows him the compact but he mistakes it for a cellphone and gets jealous. He doesn't notice anything strange until he opens the device, and then he remarks that she must be imagining things. She trips him on his way out of her room.

The shards of light from before are revealed to be cards as Nagisa inspects them. The "cellphone alien" begins moving by himself, and asks her to take him to "Mipple," the Princess of Hope. Due to his limited mobility, Nagisa carries him, but only in the head of her lacrosse stick. He starts giving directions but Nagisa can hardly understand, objecting to his demand to head straight through an enclosed yard. He starts begging her to listen.

Meanwhile, in a crowded part of the city, a man with medium purple hair opens his mysterious and menacing eyes.

As they cut through various properties, the creature explains that his name is Mepple. He is the chosen hero from the Garden of Light, which Nagisa must protect from the Dotsuku Zone. He leads Nagisa to "Angel Land" a theme park that closed down for the day. Mepple assures Nagisa that Mipple is this way, and he begins to sense something; it is different from the companion he was trying to locate. Suddenly, the white-haired man appears, in his true form. He has been searching for Mepple and introduces himself as Pisard.

Nagisa and Mepple try to run away until he cuts them off. She trips and accidentally throws Mepple into the air. Pisard catches him and asks where the "stones" are. Just then, Honoka appears and she runs up to Nagisa, revealing that she too has a creature in a compact. The pink creature within it, Mipple, tells them to save Mepple. Pisard is overjoyed that he has been saved the trouble of locating Mipple, and he begins to approach Honoka until Nagisa strikes his hand with her lacrosse stick. This causes him to release Mepple and she catches him.

Pisard becomes enraged and uses his power to throw various objects around. Mepple and Mipple instruct the girls to transform using the Queen card, included among the "Pretty Cure cards" that came with them. The girls swipe the cards onto a slot in the creature's Card Communes, initiating their transformation by shouting "Dual Aurora Wave!" out of instinct.

Pisard watches their transformation happen and cowers from the large rainbow beam surrounding the girls as they transform into Pretty Cure for the first time, becoming Cure Black and Cure White. As Pisard launches a fierce attack, the girls try to figure out how their abilities work, just barely managing to hold him off.

In a desperate move, Pisard calls out for a Zakenna, the "specter of the raging heavens" and "heart of evil that will make them realize the fear of darkness." The Zakenna possesses a roller coaster, and the girls try to dodge its attacks but are soon cornered. Mepple and Mipple tell the duo to hold hands, summoning their combined strength into an attack called Marble Screw. The Zakenna are expelled and broken down into small star-shaped creatures that say "sorry" (ゴメンナー Gomen'nā)? and run away, while Pisard escapes to the skies. The roller coaster turns back to normal.

With the battle over, Mepple and Mipple turn into plush-like creatures and reunite. They explain that the girls have been granted the power of Pretty Cure, and they'll be working together. While Honoka finds this interesting, Nagisa questions why this is happening to her; She screams "I can't believe this!" (ありえない Arienai)?.
