Synopsis
At school, the students are practicing their singing for the welcome event, while Nana plays the piano. Once Fujimi-sensei announces that practice is over, Uta wants to walk to her house with Nana, but she can't because Nana has to hurry home for her competition the next day. Uta wishes Nana to do her best and prays with Purirun in support of her overnight.
The day of the competition, Hajime, Nana's father, tells her that Mutsumi is on the phone, and she encourages Nana to relax during her performance. Nana feels relaxed, but soon grows concerned after overhearing others favoring her. She looks at the mirror and winks to herself before telling herself it'll be okay. She walks on stage and starts playing the piano, but just as she starts to focus, she makes a mistake and stops.
The next day, Uta is talking with her classmates when she notices a rather disturbed Nana, prompting Uta to stare at her during class. Additionally, during practice, Nana makes yet another mistake and apologizes to the class. During lunch, she walks out of the classroom, and Uta decides to follow her to comfort her. Nana is eating alone outside while Purirun and Uta eavesdrop from a bush. Purirun takes Uta's lunch, causing the latter to chase her, only to faceplant into the ground much to Nana's surprise. Despite that, she allows Uta to sit beside her.
Noticing how sad Nana appears to be, Uta shares her food. As they and Purirun eat silently, Nana admits the mistakes she made. She loves the piano, but now, she wants to run away. Uta sings her words of encouragement while Purirun waves her KirakiLight. Uta confesses that she loves singing along with Nana's piano, and feels "Kirakilala♪" thanks to her. Nana is moved by her words, but Purirun sneezes and Nana notices her. Uta panics and attempts to lie that Purirun is a lost space alien, but she accidentally blurts out that she's Cure Idol. Nana, however, promises to keep this a secret, and is happy to meet Purirun. She lets the fairy touch her fingers as she introduces herself. As they eat, Nana reveals she saw Uta fight the Makkuranda and admires her bravery, adding that she wants to be as strong as her. Suddenly, Uta gets an idea.
Uta takes Nana to Cafe Glitter so the latter can introduce herself to Uta's family. Oto and Kazu welcome Nana to their house while Hamori runs over to her. Nana is then introduced to the Kirakilala♪ Cream Soda, and takes a sip. She loves it and is grateful for Uta's intentions. Hamori asks Nana if she can play the piano, but is told she can do it instead. Hamori proceeds to play "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star". Oto mentions Uta played the piano in preschool, but she slammed into the keys too hard and instead sang, much to her parents' embarrassment. Since then, she never played the piano again. Nana isn't surprised until she and Uta discover a photo of them as children in a group photo from that same recital.
Nana recognizes Uta as the girl who gave her confidence to perform through a "wink spell", which she still uses to this day. Uta claims that their reunion is "Kirakilala♪" while Hamori runs to them, wanting to play the piano with Nana, To Hamori's surprise, Nana plays a more complicated melody. As they have fun, Purirun senses Hamori's Kirakira. Hamori compliments Nana, but when Oto asks Nana if she's playing at the welcome event, Nana isn't pleased in the slightest. To make matters worse, Hamori asks Oto if she can watch Nana perform.
At Nana's house, she reflects on how the day went and how much she loved playing the piano since it satisfied herself and her family. She fears she won't live up to others' expectations and wants to do her best for Hamori.
Meanwhile, in Team Chokkiri's hideout, Cutty can't look away from Idol's performance on his phone. Zakkuri teases him, only for Cutty to shout at him for thinking he's suspicious. Chokkirine, playing pool, informs them that they'll get a special bonus if they do well. Zakkuri wants to go next, much to Cutty's disdain.
The next day, Nana goes to school with Uta. Hamori, on the other hand, runs ahead to see Nana's performance after Oto takes a bit to get ready. However, Zakkuri appears and turns her into a Makkuranda based on a piano. He orders his monster to cause destruction. Uta and Nana watch this unfold and learn that Hamori is trapped inside the Makkuranda. Nana is uncertain, but Uta transforms into Cure Idol so she can save her sister.
Idol tells Nana to go somewhere safe while luring the Makkuranda to another location. Nana refuses to stay back, so she follows Idol to a nearby field. Idol blocks off the Makkuranda's soundwaves by covering her ears, as well as dodging its music notes. She fights the Makkuranda until her hard punches cause it to slide backwards. Purirun cheers her on, but Idol is eventually blown back by the noise and falls on the grass. She gets up only to see Nana running towards her. She quickly focuses on the Makkuranda to protect Nana as Zakkuri plays around with them. Just then, the Makkuranda summons a sharp music note, trapping Idol in a cage that she struggles to break. Nana tries to free Idol and drops her bag in the process while they all cover their ears from the noise.
Zakkuri, taking note of Nana, wants to turn her into his second Makkuranda. He starts approaching Nana while Idol yells at her to run away, but Nana refuses, determined to be like Uta and make Hamori happy. Zakkuri orders the Makkuranda to attack and flies out of the way. Idol screams Nana's name, but just as the Makkuranda causes a big explosion, Nana is protected by a glowing light, which allows her Pretty Cure Ribbon to form and Purirun's bag to send an Idol Heart Brooch to her. Nana catches both items and is reassured by Idol that she can do it. Nana winks and transforms into Cure Wink!
Zakkuri can't believe there's another Idol Pretty Cure, while Idol and Purirun are thrilled. Wink realizes she transformed and quickly dodges the Makkuranda's attacks. Recounting what Uta and Hamori told her, she kicks the monster and frees Idol from the cage. She then protects her from an attack with Wink Barrier. Idol is grateful and jumps over the barrier so she can use Idol Fist Touch to knock the Makkuranda down. She allows Wink to purify it with Wink Crescendo. Hamori is saved with a baby blue Kirarun Ribbon appearing and Purirun wears it to perform a crowd-pleasing move. With everything back to normal, Zakkuri quickly reports back to Chokkirine, retreating.
Hamori lays in Idol's arms, safe and sound. The Cures are relieved and Purirun is overjoyed that there's now two Idol Pretty Cures. Idol wants to work hard as a Pretty Cure with Wink, and Wink winks at Idol in response. At the welcoming event, the audience, including Uta and Nana's families, clap. Uta and Nana hold hands backstage, winking at each other and going on ahead with Nana's performance, because a wink is a spell to give you courage.
